I have a 9x12cm format unnamed folding camera which uses metal film holders

I've inserted the film holder into the rear standard, removed the darkslide, shot the frame but I'm unable to get the darkslide back into holder.

Something, " the film / film insert, has shunted slightly forward from the holder into the bellows of the camera which means atm i can't remove the holder form the camera.

Access from the front isn't possible as i would have to gain access from inside the bellows to remove the lens / shutter mechanism.

Anybody got any clever ideas?

I might add that i don't usually remove darkslides completely ....sods law that on the occasion that i have, it causes me a problem :banghead:

Darkroom (or changing bag), remove holder and reinsert dark slide? I must be missing something becasue that's too easy...

:D yep you missed the "problem"!

Line 3 of my original post:

The darkslide won't re-enter into the film holder because the film and possibly its metal sleeve' has fallen forwards towards to lens.

I am not bothered about the film, I can re-take the shot,......I simply need the film holder to free itself from the rear standard;

Jiggle it all about until film and holder thingy is out of the way so the dark slide can go back or you can remove the holder? I suspect some disassembly may be required.

Oh lord, we're on with the "jiggling" again....the method to repair all kn****red film kit :D

Using an old spare darkslide, i'm trying to inter it in at a slight angle with a view of easing the film sleeve back vertical into the holder.

This could take time! :banghead::banghead:

Reading this and is this problem a design fault and how can you prevent it happening again.

Bring it with you next week I'm sure Mr Hooley will be able to fix it.

Possibly a design fault Brian although the camera is old ...probably c. 1910 / 20

When, ( and if :confused:) I get this sorted, I'll be sure not to completely remove the darkslide in future.

:woot:At last!

Plastic spatular ( like what you grout tiles with) and a lot of jiggling

I think I may have to replace part of the light seal foam but at least i've got my camera back :)

i'll have to look at a modification to the film holder so the darkslide won't pull all the way out without releasing a catch of some description.....I can't have this performance again.
