it may seem daft to some of the gifted among us but mine i hope is a simple problem,
why sometimes wont my camera take the shot when its on auto, just gets frustrating at times!
 
Not familiar with your camera, but look to see if there is a menu setting which prevents shutter release unless focus has been acquired.
Some subjects (e.g. low contrast) give auto focus systems trouble acquiring focus so if that is the case and the what I have mentioned in the first sentence is so then that could be the problem.
 
If your camera is set to auto and there isn't enough light to expose the picture correctly it won't take the shot. Similarly if it can't see to focus it won't work either. I suggest you sit down with your camera and a cup of tea and have a good read through some of the basic tutorials on here, that should help.
