I know it must be possible, but I just don't know how. I would like to stretch parts of the border of an image to fit the canvas, rather then just cloning in the canvas area.

Could anyone explain how to do that?

Thanks!

Genuine fractals a plug in for photshop can stretch an image to fit round the sides of a canvas. It is not free though.

What do you want to do? stretch the outer section of your image but not the inner part?

Yes, I guess that is what it comes down to. The outher part is just background, but too thin to fill a canvas bar.

Well I wouldn't pay 300USD for that feature, it would not be too difficult to write an action or script to do it.

The only options I can think of are to either clone the extra space required around the image or to have a single colour on the sides of your image rather than wrapping it.

That's what I did now, I took the colour most fitting the BG and used that as canvas colour. I'll see how the end result looks and if I get a lot of requests for canvasses I can still get the software.

Thanks for the tips!

If you want a canvas 'wrap' you either need to shoot a little looser in the frame so you have enough for the 'wrap' or advise your clients which images are suitable, and which are not.

Otherwise, you are in for a lot of PP.

Some canvas suppliers offer a narrower frame which would help.

I have no idea if this will work but will suggest it anyway. If you are too close to the edge to be able to comfortably add space and clone it how about do this

Top layer - exact size of front of canvas.
Bottom layer - stretch to fit canvas plus sides
I have put a thin white line around the smaller version so it shows up better
