Street photography - is it worth it?

Those vids were posted to demonstrate how the more in your face people handle it and agree it does seem ridiculously agressive and not sure what sort of shots would come out of it (hardly well composed!)

to turn it around, and something I haven't though about before, does anyone here mind having their photo taken by some photographer weirdo when there are going about their business?

I'd be quite flattered tbh!

...oh and I find the best way to get honest candids is sat in a dark corner dressed in black with a 400mm lens. Works a treat.

or peer out through a slightly open window on the 3rd floor...

I'll watch out for you and take some shots. Anything to help make someones day that little bit better :)

(well, at least until you see my poorly executed shots doing you a dis-service)

There is very little street that i can look at really, i'm a big fan, but only really of the technically good as well as, well composed stuff :)

These two blogs are a good place to start :)

Also go on Vimeo and check out 'Chris Week's Documenting the Human Condition', well worth a watch. Its fairly Lecia bias though

Severin Koller's main blog and website is fantastic, I find myself visiting his portfolio every now and then.

The point i make about Canterbury is that everyone seems to be so stuck up - i approached 4 people this morning and got the big fat NO! in my face.

You're doing it wrong, silly.

If you don't ask, they can't say No.

Also Candid > Posed x1000.

Defeats the point asking for permission.

Just shoot and move on.

Trying to hide or be discreet just invites mistrust.

Why not ask after you have taken and shown the picture? I see what's your saying but at weddings and birthday party's people take photos. I have lots of natural ones as people forget your there.

It's up to you though.

You dissing my home town?

Never anybody in Canterbury....
