I've yet to get out again, the rain is terrible in Glasgow right now :(
 
Go anyway, stand in a doorway that gives you enough cover. Rain makes for some very interesting shots! ... go find me a soggy Santa :D

I only did this for a bit of fun, didn't have the chance to go out doing it properly so I just took the camera out shopping. You have been spared the pics of carrots, rhubarb and chocolate cake I came home with. :gag:

I like that. A fairly ordinary scene of a man putting on his helmet before taking off on his wheels. But the way you caught it lets the mind think that in fact he has his hands on his head in frustration looking at his bike which seems to have had its normal sized wheels nicked and replaced with toy town wheels :lol:
 
It took the poor man about ten minutes to lash that contraption of a parcel to the back of his bike so I think the frustration was not far off Jo :)
 
Ok I'm going to play... not sure I'll get anywhere near a street tomorrow so you'll have to make do with this from yesterday.. the question is, is it street or just street furniture?:shrug:

 
Well im out tomorrow in nottingham armed with my 5D and i think i'll try the 50mm 1.8., as i like the shots that pete is developing with his new d700. The focusing is not brilliant on the nifty but ill give it a go. Im debating either the 50mm or the 85mm 1.8 aswell. Regarding to the other street thread by EdinburghGary, I like the way that Joe wigfall takes his shots straight from the hip. i tried some of that when i was in the states and they came out pretty well. ill post my stuff later. Good work from all the TP dudes keep it up!!!

I think I'm going to try and get out to have a go. I've exchanged lenses with Dunc.F for the weekend - he's borrowed my 24-105L and I've borrowed his 85mm f1.8

It will be interesting to be restricted with a choice of 10-20, 50mm f1.8 and 85mm f1.8

This is way out of my comfort zone, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

:woot: I did it Gary, I managed to get out late last night!! Not the best set in the world, it seemed VERY dark in London last night, but never the less, Street.

All shot at iso3200ish, hence the mono comversions.

This is awesome. Pete, LOVE the colour ones. YV, excellent set. Daz, you busy? Night time is much harder it would appear. Apparently, if you listen to those NYC togs, apparently Saturday is the best day for this as people are more relaxed. Perhaps that doesnt apply on the last weekend before christmas, I will find out in about 30 minutes :)

Right, I'm off out in a bit, but I have a question ... if you see a sign somewhere and think 'That would make a great pic if I can get a shot of someone walking past ...' etc etc, do you sit and wait for that moment, or is it just spontinaiety and luck?

Yv, I like the way the woman in 3 appears to be checking out his butt :D and I also like the salesman shot ... she seems taken aback by what ever offer he's making ;)


For anyone peeping in from Lincolnshire, I'd recommend the Lincoln Christmas market today and tomorrow, as well as the ice rink by the Waterside Shopping centre .. looks cool. They just need to sort out disabled access a bit better so I can go next year :bat:

Pete those colour versions are ace! I'm only now seeing the reindeer has hoofs and not hands ... I think the colour in these two bring more definition. :clap:

Which reminds me, I saw a woman wearing a santa hat using an ATM machine last night and it occured to me that a shot of a full blown 'santa' using one would make a great 'credit crunch' image. Sadly, no such luck, but might keep my eyes peeled for next few days and in the meantime, doubly helping of cookies for anyone that can get it :D
 
Cheers, thought it might be. Argh, I hope there are lots of opportunities unfolding today then! It's not like I can move around and around people to get a clear shot of stuff, I'll be sat in the car :gag:
 
Two cracking shots there Pete. I like your usual B&W style, but feel the colour versions of these two are awesome. D700 all the way eh... great shots.
 
I appreciate that the deadline is Sunday evening, but I'm planning on heading out on Sunday night to get some shots, when i know town will be empty... Could work...

Anyway, If I ended up posting early on Monday morning, would that be allowed? :p

I've nothing to add, but I'm loving this thread! Some fantastic shots from everyone taking part. Duncan, I saw your shots before I saw it was you who'd posted them and thought they worked really well. Great moments, great captures! Love the composition too. #2 looks like the guy's getting his nose picked!
