Yes
I have WHS 2011, is there any way to show a client a slideshow/movie/filmclip via the remote access without having to download the whole file? I don't mind downloading two or three images but a video clip can take a fair few minutes.

Want are you streaming to?

Are you browsing via DLNA?

If the latter is the case it could be done via dnla like dale said. You'd need a dyndns account set up on your router to avoid dynamic ips. Turn on port forwarding to the dnla server on your LAN.

Would be horribly clunky over the Internet without constant good bandwidth I'd guess.

There are plenty of dnla server program's out there, some have web interfaces but those are normally the paid for options.

Just realised what you ate trying to do, are you remote desktop inn in to the server from another location or are you accessing a list of files?

Lets say I'm away from home and I want to acces files from my WHS 2011. As it is just now I have to download the jpeg or slideshow files to view them. Is there a way you view the images/movies without having to download them. I can access the desktop and dashboard remotely.

You can certainly do it with Win7 and logmein, no idea about WHS 2011 though.

Can't you view via the remote desktop?

nope

So what do you see when you access the desktop?

I think I've sussed it. If I have a jpeg or mp3 file in the media folder I can view/listen to the file without downloading it. If it's in any other folder I have to download it.

More tests required

So what do you see when you access the desktop?
