Wife has asked me to look into music downloads where she can listen to new and old songs albums etc, also buying singles/albums which take her fancy that she can download onto a memory stick or her phone. I don't know much about the like of itunes/Google play, do these places require a monthly fee? Any advice on what method would be best for her.
 
iTunes doesn't require a monthly fee. It's just an online music store.
 
iTunes does not require a subscription but it is not a streaming service, it is a store. Apple Music is a streaming service that does require a subscription. Spotify does have a free version if you don't mind a few adverts here and there between songs.

Non of the streaming services will allow you to download and store music on a memory stick.
Spotify does have an offline service but the music must be played via the Spotify app and the offline service requires a subscription.

and also amazon music which you get with a prime subscription.

and spotify can be had half price with student email address.
 
Use Spotify to find music (use free account) and iTunes to download
 
Also bear in mind anything you buy on iTunes will only play on an apple supported device. You cant stream any iTunes purchased music to a non apple supported device unless it has airplay support. Scandalous really but then that's Apple for you!
 
Thanks for the replies guys, she finds Spotify a wee bit confusing for her ...well she's a woman :coat: seriously though she's not used to the computer, got her looking at Deezer which she seems to find a bit easier. Now to show her how to buy a track/album from Amazon ...not sure showing her how to use Amazon is a good idea :):)
 
Amazon Prime is good. Not only do you get access to a lot of free music, you can download it to your mobile device or stream live.
 
Not a fan of iTunes, too restrictive. I now use Amazon Prime and often just use there playlists if I want some music on in the background.
 
I agree with above itunes way to restrictive. She might be better off sticking to cd's and you burn them to a stick for here. People debate music bitrates all the time, but to me cd's sound better than spotify on my system.

Spotify all the way. Anything that reduces the chances of hearing the beatles is a godsend for me.

I'm pretty sure that you'll find quite a few others who fit these criteria on Spotify. :rolleyes:
 
I used to use Spotify, until I realised how little they paid the artists for each song I listened to - I've moved over to Google Play Music as a result. I usually use Amazon when I want to download or more specialist dance music sites for individual tracks.

That's what I do buy the cd pop it into my pc and load it to iTunes
I'm old fashioned like to have a real copy of the music :rolleyes:
