Straying off topic, thread evolver

I can remember renting a brand new Zanussi washing machine from Radio Rentals, I only ever paid 1 lot of rental on it as when I went to go pay the second month they had gone out of business.

No one ever contacted me for rental money or to get the washing machine back

Now that's a result :)

I am thinking of buying my next compact from John Lewis. I wonder if I should get an extended warranty
I rarely shop there, crack on :D

Why not? The staff are very courteous. I bought a lens from them a while ago, and the glamours sales assistant posed for me, while I tried the lens out. Knock half an hours model fees off the lens, and I got a good deal ;)

Out of curiosity....does anyone know if BENNETS is still around, on Irongate in Derby?

What did they sell?

the only Bennett's I ever knew was Bennett's of Sheffield (mail order fishing tackle) they went out of business the same year I visited the shop around 2010 I think.

Mr cobra there is totally no need to refer to jonbeeza as a crackon ,they were all wiped out by the U.S. S enterprise in series 1a episode 397 .the whole lot of them being blown into a black hole ,did someone mention Jordan .:runaway: :runaway: :runaway:

Bit of everything. They're classed as a department store but privately owned single store.
Top quality merchandise and a proper old style ironmongery at the rear of the store.
Their christmas display and wares were legendary. It was a pleasure just to wander round tbh.
Google tells me they're still going, and still resisting Sunday opening! :-)

I can remember going to Robert Dyas when I was living down south, are they still about?

I went into town the other day, as I wanted pants and a jackets with loads of pockets. Sort of combat style, so I thought I would go to the Army and Navy store. Seems they are not on the high street any more! Are they still going?

are woolworths still going not seen one for a while

We have one local, but its not under the army and navy banner but sells the same sorts of things

They went Kaput some years ago. Seems they are all being replaced by pound shops, who are in turn being undercut by 99p stores.
if they keep this up, they'll soon be paying us to take the goods away :D
did someone mention Jordan
Well I kinda did in an oblique way in the WCMUT thread :D

99p stores were bought out by Poundland.

I remember a time, when we called all shops that sold household and toys , a 50p shop. Never twigged for years, that it was just a normal shop.

This thread has stayed on topic for far too long now, not in the spirit of things. come on chaps up your game.

At no point, in the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme, does it say that Humpty is an egg.

I love eggs. Might have a fried egg on top of my burger tonight. Brilliant idea. Sunny side up.

Sunny side up.
FFS! Don't mention sunny side up! Landfill sites are harsh environments in the winter. Positively hostile in this heat! BBQ gyr saker anyone? With a side order of Harris hawk?

Cobra.... Your snake's turned blue :D

Probably been in a harsh environment lol

Sorry to stray off topic a little, but I got up this morning had breakfasts, then I took the dog the park. I came back had lunch. Now I'm trying to think up some boring rubbish, to post on here! :-)

it's been blue all winter Em, time to change it back to pink with sun burn I think :D

I think
I think I am becoming more easy going, as I get older. I saw this feller on FB, and as soon as I saw his name and face I recognised him. He used to cause aggro with me in school, many many years ago.

Anyway I saw him in the street , and spoke to him. I felt like thumping him, but he was terrified when he remembered me. I wished him well , and said goodbye. It was good enough for me, just to know he was a little scared.

Just a pity I did not know he was such a %#*$ house all them years ago, otherwise I would have thumped him then :-(

Why not plan what you have for dinner ;)

Speaking on the topic of food. I Was in the frozen shop looking for ice cream. Came out with some cones and magnum type chocolate ice cream. I really wanted a block of ice cream and wafers.

Is the ice cream with the three flavours still going? I think it was chocolate strawberry and vanilla , in a long slim box. It was sliced and put on wafers.

Neopolitan.
There's a brilliant Simpsons moment when Homer claims they've run out - but he's only eaten the chocolate bit.

Ahh that's right , remember the name now. For some strange reason, I always thought it was Napoleons ice cream !

While I was out in the park this morning, I spotted this lovely BBC van. Could not get a shot shot of the van, there were two fellas standing in front of it. Oh and one of them, just happens to have a big fat lens in his hand  It's only a snap grab photo, critique not wanted. Not my fault the silly fella has a bin glued to the front of his bonnet. Good place for the BBC to put their rubbish ;)
