Could possibly do the 9th or 10th. Those would be the only dates I can do due to life getting in the way of fun.

I was thinking more of an Ent...

One does not simply walk into Stratford upon Avon, its black gates are guarded by more than just orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep, the great eye is ever watchful.....

april 25th or 9th may .the latter prefered.

So, Saturday 9 May gets 6 votes, while 2 May and 10 May get 4 votes each. I guess it's the 9th then!

For those coming by car there's an official Park and Ride just off the A46 (by the new Parkway station), can either get a bus in or walk in along the canal bank. There's also an unofficial Park and Walk, off the A439 Warwick Road, where you can walk in along the river bank. Plus car parks in town; I guess all will be a bit busy that weekend.

If you walk in from the station along Alcester Road, it becomes Greenhill St. At the end of that (before it becomes Wood St) by the Old Thatch Tavern, Rother St crosses it; there will likely be a market in Rother St. It appears from Google Maps that if you turn right along Rother St, there is a well-reviewed cafe and coffee shop called McKechnies, perhaps we could meet there, time to be arranged when folk have an idea of travel plans?

Who's thinking of coming?

I'm out as well, unfortunately I can't make the 9th either. I expect to see some classic Stratford shots and many shots with Bard related themes. Have fun folks.

I'm in. The train can get me there anytime after 10.00 with ease.

Or you could drive to my gaff and we'll go from here?

Good idea but I won't have the car, the CMS will need it whilst I'm off enjoying myself.

now all we need is for you to arrange some hot sunny weather @ChrisR

Quick then, let's hold it today... er no, I'm in Edinburgh again!

Fingers crossed, but it's a Bank Holiday weekend, so presumably we'll be blessed with moody skies (and all that entails). ;)

not on my calendar

Ah, you're right! That should mean not quite such mad crowds then. Dunno how I got that wrong! (Well, I get most things wrong according to SWMBO :( )

Back south, I'll try to get to Stratford this week to check things out.

Are @simon ess and @donut planning on coming?

I'm really sorry that @RaglanSurf can't come; can't quite imagine a film meet without Nick.

BTW @Asha it's very close to Birmingham Airport, which probably has flights from your part of the world...

I think I'm going to have to duck out sadly. I've got a big sciencey experiment on the Monday and will need all the time I can get to prepare for it.

Whatcher mean? What can possibly go wrong??

We'll miss you, Rob!

This is just the sort of thing I've been worried about.. Hooley/Science experiments not a good mix.

It's been nice knowing you all.

Put it this way.
If you're within about 100 miles of Oxford in a couple of weeks, you'd be best advised to wear Lead underpants and several pairs of sunglasses.
Further out from that and you might get away with some mild radiation induced mutations. Maybe...

Nope, safe as houses, nothing can penetrate the thick layer of northern cloud that permanently covers my house.

OMG they're letting Hooley onto the Diamond Light Source (aka a mahoosive X-ray machine...)... I'm off back to Edinburgh sharpish... :runaway::wave::exit:

Oh yes...
3 Giga electron volts of fun for all the family!

I've put a thread in the Meeting Place pointing to this, in case there are any digerati who may have film cameras that want exercising...

Sorry to read that, Dean. See you next time, I hope.

Went in to Stratford today to check it out. I've added this to the first post...

Checked it out today, looks reasonable; the owner says it gets crowded half tennish, so we'll probably be OK. There's tables out the front and rear if the weather's reasonable. It might be a bit hidden behind the street market.

I also checked out the pubs...
