Strap for 2 cameras

I use a Q-Strap double harness sling strap when I've got 2 cameras on the go. I was out yesterday with a gripped 7D with Sigma 150-500 OS on one side and a gripped 5D MkIII with Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS MkII on the other side. The strap was comfortable and the weight is well distributed. I've tried using a Canon strap over each shoulder but I found it uncomfortable and the lens points outwards where you can knock them. With the sling strap the cameras can be rotated to a more comfortable position.

For the price I paid it's one of the best purchases I've made. The carabiner connectors are very strong and the plate connecters are easily mounted and very strong. I've got 2 single Q-Strap slings and did use them over each shoulder but the dual harness is more comfortable to carry the weight about.

I like to use a 'holster' style bag, eg the Lowepro toploader type bag, which can carry one camera with 70-200mm lens. If I'm shooting with two cameras, one with a 70-200 and another camera with a wider lens, I keep one camera in the bag and the other with the strap around my neck or over my shoulder and the camera in my hands. It is easy to quickly switch between them when needed - taking the camera in the bag out and replacing it with the other.
The main advantage is that it is much easier to move around, run, climb fences, be jostled by crowds etc than it is when having two cameras bouncing around by your side. Maybe also slightly noticeable than having two cameras on show. The bag is also handy if you want to carry a flashgun in it too.

IF it fails that is... what IF a shoulder strap breaks?

I've been lugging about a D4 attached from the tripod mount for a year now without it breaking. I've never heard many reports of a tripod mount breaking from a strap.

With regards to the black rapid duel harnesses, I find them to be awkward and cumbersome. And depending on what you're shooting they can make you stand out like a sore thumb. They also make it awkward to do anything other than shoot from your eye which can (imo) stiffle creativity a bit.

I use a black rapid single strap for one camera (it's always shot from eye) and then a shoulder strap for my second camera.

Thanks for replies going to have a look at these options just a little scared hanging camera from tripod mount. If it falls its gone :0(

The BR Yeti is not on a tripod mount, it's on a screw mount which is hooked up to a karabiner which has a screw lock to stop it opening up, my camera strap on my D90 came loose in Egypt earlier this year and it nearly bounced off the jetty. Then when I was in the New Forest last month my D5100 tried to escape by diving off the camera strap and into mud. I did tie a knot in each one but the trust had gone and I bought a new kind of strap

Most of the time with heavy lenses the strap attaches to the lens foot mount, I hang my heaviest lenses (Sigma 150-500 OS @ 1780g, Sigma 120-400 OS @ 1640g and Canon 70-200 f2.8L IS MkII @ 1490g) complete with a gripped 7D or gripped 5D3 and I've never felt worried that the strap or any of the plates or carabiner connectors would fail.

As I said above, when using 2 sling straps from my shoulder and having them cross over seems much more uncomfortable to me than having the dual harness. Plus the straps have no chance of getting twisted.
