Just recently a weird thing has started happening with certain programs on a couple of channels, most notably with The Simpsons on Sky 1. Whenever these programs are on, the TV switches screen ratio to 4:3, switching back to "wide" in commercial breaks. Anyone experienced this or have any clue why it's happening?

Used to have this problem on my older TV. It was actually caused by the TV display mode being set to 'auto' - this resulted in ads often being 4:3 whenever the actual program was 16:9

Thanks James, I'll check the display mode on the TV (It's a CRT one) but nothing has been changed to my knowledge.

ooh I have been :bang: over the last few days, I have ben getting the same thing on a few channels have checked me settings and cant find a problem

I have Scart control turned off to stop this happening.

Sky remote > Services > 4 > 1 > Scart Control [OFF] > Save

Job done :)

not had the problem, but then my tv is set to upscale everthing so its likely its just going to stretchovision on 4:3/ Old episodes of the simpsons then?

mine has been doing it too.. i'm pretty sure its not the TV i think its SKY 1
its only started doing it with the simpsons after that stupid huge on screen advert for House slides over the screen. When the adverts come on it goes back to normal until the house advert comes around for the second go.

Never had it on any other channel or any other program, and it used to work fine with the Simpsons too.

Those american style overlays are annoying as hell. I wish they would **** right off back to america.

good excuse for a new TV ;)

Oh how I wish, but it definitely seems to be a Sky problem.

That's exactly it although it has happened with a couple of programs on non Sky channels (Dave I think was one).

mine is zooming on comedy central in the adverts then goes back to normal during the programmes,
