Hi

This is what I did and this is what happened:

*Downloaded a raw file into Zoom browser
*Opened it up in CS4 by dragging it
*In raw convertor, altered the exposure setting and on the third tab I think it is, dragged the two sliders across to maximum (I'm at work at the mo but I think they say something like, preserve quality)
*Did some dodging and burning, cropping, gauzian blurred the background, then unshaprp mask
*Put a picture frame round it using actions
*Had to re-size it to no bigger than 600x600pixels for a website
*Another bit of unsharp mask
*Saved as a jpeg, max quality

Now, when it was converted to jpeg and opened in CS4 (pic of a chestnut horse), the horse had the most glorious deep chestnut colour. Its white blaze was not blown.

When I put the jpeg on the web, the colour was almost dull, no vibrant chestnut colour compared to what I saw in CS4. The white blaze was blown too. The difference in vibrancy/colour was just so obvious.

I've put pics on the website to which I'm referring before many times. Maybe the changes have always happened and I've never noticed.:shake:

The pic didn't go on photobucket or anything like that first, I added it to the website from 'my documents' that's why I had to re-size it.

Any suggestions as to what happened and what I can do in the future to prevent this happening?

Thanks

Make sure you're working with sRGB as your colour space, it sounds like the image is in AdobeRGB which is what Camera Raw defaults to.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. Do you mean shoot in sRGB because I'm sure I do. I'll double check later.

Lisa

No, if you're shooting in raw the camera's setting doesn't matter - it's the raw s/w that will set the colour space, in this case Adobe Camera Raw and that's what you need to check.

Oh I see, thanks I'll check later. Is it a simple process to check?

In the camera raw window at the bottom there's some blue text telling you the colour space, size, ppi, etc. Click on that to change the colour space.

Thanks.

Thanks, I've tried it and you were perfectly correct in your initial post.

Many thanks.
