During Monday, temperatures will soar very rapidly, some places may reach 31C, making it the hottest day of the year so far. The heat combined with the ever increasing humidity is likely to cause some sharp showers to develop during the late morning, turning torrential and into thunderstorms during the afternoon. These are most likely across central and southern England & Wales. Also during the late morning and especially into the afternoon, a weather front approaches from the southwest. This is likely to trigger embedded thunderstorms in the rainband over the southwest, moving very slowly northeast. Another trough over western France is expected to develop several thunderstorms which during the evening hours may merge together to form a MCS, which is likely then to move into CS-SE England, and possibly into East Anglia too. The latest information suggests the possibility of gusty (possibly severe) winds, large hail, localised flooding and possibly a tornado. As the trough and weather front gradually get closer together during the evening, this is likely to increase rainfall rates and there may be some torrential, prolonged rainfall which could lead to flash flooding in the SW-CS England regions during this period. The storms will move into the Midlands and Wales by the end of this period, by which time it should turn drier in the southwest. As the situation is still uncertain, UKASF will monitor the situation throughout Monday and may issue updates if necessary.

Some areas had some storms yesterday , i wan't to see some good cloud and or lightning photo's , come on people! :woot:

Well it does not look as if it will be in my direction, and I would not really know how to get lightening pictures so I will leave it to you to get the pictures, I will just watch if anything does head my way!

meh, they will die off before they get up to the NE.

Weather warning for the South West for tomorrow. Could be quite dramatic. Shame I'm in blooming North West!

The 1 day I leave my camera at home :annoyed:

With a bit of luck I may well see some action tonight.

Its supposed to arrive about 16:00hrs then clear and return early hours of tomorrow here......... who knows for sure though

Pirate,

NORTHERN IRELAND AND WESTERN SCOTLAND 12:00 – 16:00
Some pooling of low level moisture during the afternoon is expected to cause some isolated Thunderstorms to be triggered. These are not thought to pose a severe weather risk at this point

WALES AND MIDLANDS ENGLAND 15:00 – 21:00
Showing up on Satellite and theta E forecast charts is a surface trough ahead of the cold front which will bring a little extra moisture and is expected to spark some heavy showers. As surface and upper level low become less co located during the evening there is a short window of time when convection is still surface based and some wind shear develops across western areas. The risk here is that an n isolated severe storm could develop with perhaps a slight risk of a short lived tornado. Period to monitor will likely be around 20:00 but due to the very short window the risk is not deemed high enough to warrant a slight risk.

SOUTH WEST ENGLAND SOME SOUTHERN COUNTIES 15:00 – 21:00
A destabilising cold front sweeps in from the south west bringing thunderstorms up from the south. Late in the period low level winds are forecast to have a marked convergence giving a short window again where surface based convection and low level wind shear combine to increase the risk of severe weather with perhaps a slight risk of a short lived tornado. The main risk here however is heavy rain causing localised flooding and lightning.

SOUTH EAST/CENTRAL ENGLAND AND WALES 21:00 Monday – 04:00 Tuesday
Some severe thunderstorm development is expected across France as some very moist air is advected north and these storms are expected to move north along the cold front across the southern half of England. Whilst these storms will likely no longer be surface based they will bring lots of rain with a risk of localized flooding and significant Lightning and for this reason a slight risk of severe weather has been issued.

There was supposed to have been rain and cloud all weekend according the the weather last Friday. We haven't seen a rain drop for a week and not much in the way of clouds either these past few days.

I guess us in the rest of scotland don't have any weather :D

Anyone got theirs yet
The paid liars got it wrong here........
The ETA has been moved back a "few hours"

Mainland Europe have had near continuous thunderstoms for weeks and weeks now. Germany, France, Holland and over into Bulgaria. While so far this year, where I am we have only had one 'weak' thunderstorm the other week.

Rough direction , following the radar loop

I've just driven through some of the worst storms I've experienced whilst driving between Bristol and Gloucester. Down to 20 mph in places.

We've had a brilliant storm here. Rain by the tanker load, thunder and hail.

I don't have any pics to show you but I did have a ball getting drenched and playing the front garden. You can't beat good summer rain, feels sooooooooo fresh. :D:D

All this talk and nobody has even Cloud photo's of these storms? bah!

Sorry, been out shooting all day and my first thought was to get outside and enjoy it. It was a goodun, the hail was big enough to set off the security lights up the road, that seemed to think it was night.

Still blazing sunshine here and not a cloud in the sky. It may have all changed by the time I leave work at 10pm, may get chance to pick up my camera from home and see if the lightning has made it up here by then.

Wonderful storm in progress here but can't catch any lightening shots. How sad am I :bang:

Weve just had a little splash of rain, and some lightning in the distance.. Boo.. bad show!!

Not even a splash of rain here, other than it being really muggy no sign of a storm either :(

Some impressive CG,s & CC's , the rainfall came down at an incredible rate !

Some footage but no photography , too wet :D :D

I heard some thunder at a random time at night, I was asleep so missed this one unfortunately

There was one flash and clap of thunder here, then nothing. I had the camera setup just in case though.
