Can anyone explain the benefits, or characteristic differences in laymans terms?

Billingham sum FibreNite up as "Offering every benefit of our Traditional Canvas, with advancements suited to modern life and ways of working" which begs the question why anyone would want canvas.

However, I'm not sure about the comment "bonded to a polyester lining using Billingham StormBlock butyl rubber".

I want something that feels soft, yet hard wearing, like a traditional canvas and that will improve with age, gradually changing colour in the more worn or sunbleached areas.

What have you guys/gals opted for? Any recommendations?

I have had Billinghams in Cotton and Cordura which is similar to the Fibre Nite now being used. The cotton bags were excellent to start with but did show wear more than the cordura although this distressed look is fashionable to many. The cordura kept it's looks and value better by remaining close to new for years.
On a practical side. The cordura are lighter although you'd hardly notice the difference. It's in bad weather where the difference really showed. Both are 100% waterproof however the water just sheets straight off the nylon whereas the canvas needed to be fully dried out after a drenching. I was photographing outdoor sports at the time so for me there was only one winner.
Ultimately both are a pleasure to own and which ever you choose you can do so in the comfort of knowing you have a superb bit of kit. Best of luck and report your findings back. As a member of the 50+ brigade my views may not mix with current trends so it would be good to hear from a few of the youngsters out there also.
