It's uncommon to have a named storm at this time of the year. Not unknown but not the norm. It's out to the NW and deepening rapidly. The forecasters are suggesting wind gusts of 70-80 even 90mph on the north west coast of Scotland. The region to be hit hard is Newcastle, north. North Wales and NI will be hit by it,too . We'll get away with a bit of wind and a period of rain down here.

I think it will reach the NW coast of NI about 6.00am tomorrow morning (Monday) with a yellow warning. About the same time for NW England , also a yellow warning. About 10.0am for NW Scotland which has an amber warning.

Floris is a bit late arriving here but the wind is starting to pick up, got the bins all laid down to stop them being blown over.

I live just up the coast, about 5m, from Newcastle NI; where I am, it has been very blustery and I'd estimate easily 60-709mph winds, it was raining earlier and off/on, but it's not been that bad. Actually on the coast it was a bit worse, but unless you're at sea, nowhere near as bad as the last couple of storms in Dec/Jan.

Slightly off topic, but I popped onto Ventusky to have a look at the storm and checked out the air quality when I saw Canada and figured what on earth was going on there  :$

Apparently it's the wildfires. Incredible to see the effects of it on air quality.

Looks like the storm is going to head off to Inverness and away from Glasgow.

...but my neighbour didn't...

Blustery here in Fife but apparently the Queensferry Crossing bridge (wind resistant, will never close) is closed, weather from local source shows our wind at 34mph, possibly worse blowing down the estuary, the big claims for the bridge failed again.

The last named storm we had I had to knock on the neighbour's door the night before as he had loose timber on the front. Don't they watch the news ?

Still windy here in n.wales Tuesday morning but no damage . Lots of campsite damage in Scotland with caravans ,motorhomes overturned and awnings demolished .. don’t these people watch the news/ weather

My bold.
Seems not. Our neighbours didn't.

One group of people who regularly fail to take note of forecasts are those who go into the mountains and have to be rescued. Not uncommon to hear that a bad weather forecast had been given out for a few days prior to their trip but off they go. Worse, is when the likes of scout/cubs/girl guide groups are taken onto the likes of Dartmoor/Exmoor despite weather warnings. I suppose there is some leeway for cavers re flooding because of heavy rains some miles away but even they, knowing that can happen , should be checking the forecasts in the region not just local to the caves.
