Stay safe anyone affected by the rising flood waters, looks extremely dangerous in Cumbria.

Lake Windermere has risen by a metre in 24 hours, that's an awful lot of water

I'm glad I live on a hillside, water flowing past the front door and also coming down the chimney, hearth full of towels soaking it up,worst I've seen it in the 26 years I've lived here, could be a lot worse though anyone by a river side must be crapping themselves.

I hope there won't be any more casualties. Stay safe.

Looks very bad in Cumbria. This storm can't pass quickly enough.

Just been watching it on the news, looks horrendous

Parts of my garden have succumbed as it can no longer drain away the rain, I now have a paddling pool

URGH !!

So far I've no problems other than my wheelie bins trying to escape and lots and lots of water everywhere.

I should be going to Edinburgh tomorrow - but I've cancelled it

Ah, you have floaty bins too? :)

Just watching the news....yikes.
Stay safe, anyone in the area :(

Its very windy down here, but the rain is a long way off.
Stay safe people

I'm in the sticky out bit on the bottom right near France.
Bit breezy is all.
I don't envy you. :(

Yeah, Sorry about that :(

B***er. That's it, I'm off to the local for an hour. (y)

(I'm taking my phone though in case the old boy next door has any more dramas).

Take care folks and Chris, don't forget the sun cream. :)

Just below the D in kingdom, been p***ing down with galeforce winds for 27 hours, only about another 10 to go.
You are certainly copping it there :(

It's been horrendous here for the past couple of hours! :wideyed: (under the g 1/2 way down to the n in Manchester) Rain has been torrential too.:(

The last time it was this bad round here was probably the great storm of 1987.

see that mass almost totally obliterating Scotland?

I'm in that lot and have been for over 24 hours.

I also have had to rescue my wheelie bin

The problem with wheelie bins [ and I have 3 of them ! ] is when they get caught by the wind and are up-ended in a puddle with the lid wide open and the handle in said puddle [ particularly when the puddle is about a foot deep !!

The blasted bins are so deep that when you finally get it upright - there's water at the bottom and even if you tip it out the blasted bin is wet inside and everything then sticks as you drop the bags of rubbish in.

Seems the rain has actually stopped! Not the winds though, yet.

Just had a thought, `Desmond` is worse than the last one a couple of weeks ago & the 2 before that. Is giving them names making them worse?

Can someone please name the next one Evangeline, or something kind & gentle? (y)

Just spent the week at windermere, think it was dry for about 6 hours, honestly.
3 overturned lorries on the southbound lanes of M6 around Shap, when I was driving back up today, the river Eden was more like an ocean.

Next one is Eva :-)

I chock the wheelie bin with 2 house bricks. One under the axle by each wheel usually keeps it from wandering off.

Grrrrrrr.....

Garden gate has now come loose and is banging in the wind!

Need to decide whether I fancy going out in the wind and rain to fix it or leave it to annoy me all night and fix it in the morning

Might not be there in the morning...

I'd prefer a wheelie bin, so that when it blows into the road people might actually stop or drive around it.

Unlike what happened to our recycling bags the other night where some twonk ran it over.

Well decided to brave the elements and go and secure the garden gate

I am now cold and wet and my feet discovered that the new paddling pool has spread

Hope it soon passes for you all, it's the aftermath that doesn't bare thinking about :(

Aberdeen has been a wonderful place this weekend and the sun is due out in an hour or so!

Well I woke up to sunshine this morning

A quick survey revealed I have got off very lightly compared to some

Top right hand fork of the V in Liverpool is me ,right on top of a Welsh hill with nothing in front of us but the Dee estuary and Irish Sea ,everything blown around the garden ,but no damage . One storm after another is getting depressing though .looking out the window at dawn and thousands of gulls on the field in front of the house

Couldn't get out of the village yesterday due to deep "puddles" in dips in the road but mostly drained away by this morning.

Spent yesterday evening on a mercy dash to collect the step son who's studying at Lancaster uni.

Bought some fresh food to leave for his housemates who are stuck till their parents pick em up later.

It was weird driving through the city centre in the dark.
