Currently my gear is in my Flipside 300 & Vertex 200, but I am moving my room about and want different storage as I can't be bothered switching gear from one bag to another and what not.

I like the idea of getting one of those cheap plastic containers than can go anywhere, and that have a lid on. Is this a good idea? Or will cause problems with the gear.

Then the bags will store under my bed, but the gear will be put in that plastic box/container in my wardrobe.

In the tropics - possibly. Near Stockport - doubtful.

stored a few lens of mine in those cheap vacuum bags meant for cloths, sucks all air and moister out and seals it. This was for storing in a place known to have dampness, and it works well.

Jason, I might sound thick :bonk:- but do you mean it will or won't cause damage/be a good idea? I like the idea too so would be grateful for your advice:)

Thank you,

Puddle

I mean the things that would tend to cause damage in such circumstances - humidity (so internal mould in the lenses), insects etc - might pose a problem in Kingston, Jamaica but (unless climate change has gone further than I thought) Stockport should be fine (even accounting for the reputation of the Manchester area for being prone to precipitation) :)

And if you really want to be sure, you could buy a box of silica gel bags on amazon for a fiver and throw that in with it.

Well actually if mold can grow on your curtains then it can grow on your lenses- you don't have to live in Indonesia to suffer fungus problems on lenses, its just less likely to happen.

I live in a flat and use a dehumidifier as it gets rather humid, and store my equipment in a peli case with dessicant to protect my gear.

If you do use silica gel or equivalent be careful not to put too much as you can dry out the inner workings of a lens.

Plastic case like the Peli ones is an excellent storage facility, protects against accidental damage and keeps the kit secure.

:agree: I keep my gear in a Peli case with a dessicant to protect my gear from moisture then take out what I need and put in a bag or if I need the lot take out the Peli, as it's on wheels it's easy to handle.
