Storing a camera with a lens attached

This is probably a slightly stupid question (again!), but I feel it's worth asking anyway.

Today I went out and bought a very nice Lowepro bag for carrying and storing my gear in. The best way to store my stuff is to leave my big, 120-400mm Sigma lens attached to the camera body, and leave it all in the bag. Is leaving the lens attached to the body for a long time period going to damage anything, or is it no problem?
 
i have my tamron 17-50 on there all the time.
 
Shouldn't cause any problems as long as your not throwing your bag around

Just keep the lens you need most of the time (or just use the most) on the camera.
 
Excellent, thanks for the quick replies guys. Didn't think it would be a problem but it's always worth checking.
 
I will have 3 bags, 2 bodies and several lenses. Not all lenses are needed for every trip or shoot i do with the camera.

I take the appropriate bag, attach what i think is going to be the most/first used lens and pack the rest of the gobbins.

when i am at home my bags usually have got 1 or 2 lenses each in them depending what i did with the camera last. the camera and the last used lens are attached all the time. I should really get some sort of cabinet for them and just chuck the bags in a closet or something.
 
Depends on which bag I'm using. If I'm using the small shoulder bag, then the 24-70 will be attached as that's probably all I'll be using. If I'm taking the full kit, then the 70-200 will be attached as it all fits in the rucksack best. Either way, there is always a lens attached to the camera. The backup body is always stored lensless though.
