Well, I quit smoking in the new (congrats to everyone who's posted who has also quit) and its going better than ever before (vastly reduced cravings, general cherrier disposition) and I think I have a figured out why, and its more or less down to this (and other forums).

It wonderfully distracting when I'm bored to come on here and just trawl through posts and wind up following an Alice in Wonderland trail of links because I don't know what bokeh is, or some such. I don't have time for cravings, I'm to busy!

I've also worked out a new unit of measurement of how much money I'm saving by not smoking: The Nikon.
I smoke a pack a day, which works at about £5 a day (B&H Silvers), well convert that into Nikons and you realise its actually 0.025 D40's a Day, or 0.175 D40's a week! That practically a New Camera a month (well every 40 days)! And thats assuiming I smoke cheap fags! I often smoke regals. Factor in another 60p for them and it goes to 35 days.

I think I'm going to post a table of Nikon units.

I thought they gave a Nikon away with every packet of fags:lol:

They should have done. You know what the scary thing was, I'm badly astmatic and I was smoking. Once it got really cold over new year (and thanks to my bad insulation on the windows) the cold in the room would set me off in my sleep. Nothing like waking up suffocating to put things in perspective (though waking up suffocating is better than the alternative :(

Well done you. I have recently quit myself but I can't relate to you at all ..............................................................................................................................................................

being a canon man

put £5.60 a day into a jar instead, by the end of the year you'll have a D3

congrats on packing in, years ago someone I knew put the money away and went on holiday with it so she could see how much she'd been chucking away every year
