Stolen D2x & 70-200 VR *UPDTAE*

Gutted for you fella, As I read your post it brought back my feelings of being burgled myself, horrible ... thankfully you didn't mention computers or hard drives full of images, phew.

May I suggest the go the whole hog securing your place, I've been burgled many times over the years and I've learned that doing the usual recommended measures is just not enough. If you can, get a police connected alarm system and a big heavy safe that you can bolt down, there expensive but you can find large second hand ones if your take a look around those industrial furnishings type people, metal yards etc.

Sorry to hear about your day mate - they are scum !!!

My parents were burgled a few years ago and despite losing some sentimentel stuff, the thing that freaked my mam out most was someone had been through her stuff in HER house.

You have my sympathies.

Good luck with your lady friend too !!

Anth.

Sorry about your news :(

I can only add to what others here have already said, sorry to hear about your bad news, let's just hope that the thieving b******s can be brought to justice. :(

Thanks everyone for your replies, much appreciated :)

I had the insurance guy come round today and everything seems to be ok. Only slight annoyance is I'll be getting Jessops vouchers! That gives me two options now, risk pre-ordering a D3 with them and they get stock at some point before the comapny goes bust(!). Or get a D2Xs and use that until my priginal D3 pre-order at Grays of Wesminter comes up, then sell the D2Xs as 'nearly' new.

Very sorry to hear about your situation!

If you dont mind are you insured with a specialised photographic insurance company as i am thinking of getting my kit insured and if they only offer Jessops vouchers I wont bother..

Anyway hope you decide on the best kit and good luck..

No I went through home contents for my claim. Check though as its something I'm going to give thought to in the future.

Only just come across this thread - really tough luck there Richard. As others have said the penalties for these people if caught are light enough to not prove to be a real deterrant unfortunately.

Hope it all gets sorted out soon.

Our home insurance used a third party company to organise the replacement of my camera who in turn ordered it through Warehouse Express. (300D & 420EX pinched, replaced by 400D & 430EX - happy there but I had a load of pictures of my daughter which I hadn't uploaded yet on the card in the camera :( Gits!

Anyway, I know how you feel (about the burglary that is) but glad that your insurers are paying out!

Me being the suspicious type, had you considered that it was mighty coincidental that the burglary occured at the same time that you took your ex to the airport? Just a thought - especially if nothing else went walkies - it's a lot easier to sell a hooky DVD player and TV than a specialist camera...anyone interested in a D2x will be a photographer already and will ask questions as to it's provenance...

Definately %110 not related.

I have already been wondering how hard it will be for them to sell on a D2x and 70-200 with no accessories or boxes...not very, is my guess...
