Filthy...banging head and rivers of snot...
For the past 6 months I've just had to man-up and get on with it...

Thankfully I now have the perfect remedy...

3 litres of 12-yr Bunnahabhain Islay single malt.

I know it doesn't actually cure anything - do you think I care?

Good luck to you Rob. I've had my head cold since just after Christmas. Just as I think its about gone, it returns.
Can't believe how quick my body makes it and how much!!!

It's delicious and nutritious...not quite up to Balvenie standards, but an accptable compromise when I'm in the mood for quantity over quality...

For really serious drinking, the bottles of Laphroag come out from the back of the shelf. I give a dram of that to visitors so they won't come back for more - it's a bit of a challenge to the uninitiated.

But lovely stuff for those know who have been initiated :thumbs:

Although I'm not sure I could have coped with the pint of it one of my mates who isn't a whisky drinker tried to by me in a pub a few years ago.

Sorry to hear about the cold - love the remedy :lol:.

To sort the men from the boys try a drop of "As we get it" - 101 degrees proof or 57.8% vol :love:

As it says on the label - bottled directly from the original cask at cask strength, not chill filtered and no water added - top stuff :thumbs:

Luckily for his pocket and my head the barman just laughed, explained what he'd asked for and gave him a normal measure.

It doesn't cure anything but it sure takes your mind off it! But only three litres - what will you do after tomorrow? :D

Hey, lets not have an East/West divide on this one, it's all good stuff and each has it's own unique qualities and characteristics. Each deserves to be celebrated, cherished and enjoyed. We're talking products of the highest quality here, it's not another Nikon v Canon bunfight!

Which did I enjoy most, the 18 Macallan I got for my 40th and savoured for weeks sitting in my armchair or the 10 Talisker I saw off in a night with a mate in a freezing tent before traversing the Grey Corries next day in a blizzard? Couldn't say, they were both memorable whiskies and memorable occasions.

Personally I favour Macallan ahead of Glenlivit ahead of Glenfiddich in the Speys, although I've also got a healthy (or should that be unhealthy) respect for Glenfarclas 105. From the islands I've got a soft spot for Bowmore, although I've only ever had the Legend or 12, regrettably never the 15 or 18. However the 15 Laphroaig is a bit special and Talisker is, well, Talisker!

If you really, really push me to choose a favourite between East and West, I'd have to say Highland Park. :)

Regretably now I'm not supposed to drink because of the medication I'm on, but oh, the memories! :'(:love:
 
When there is no Laphroaig left in the cupboard here - there is always a bottle of Lagavulin ready to hand.

For a change - and pleasure too, a Bushmill's single malt is never turned away.

Ah, Whiskey with an "e." Yes, that's good too. I'm going to Ireland next month; may have to relax my no alchohol rule just a little.....:D

Balvenie Founder's Reserve '10' - 3 bottles.
Balvenie Doublewood '12' - 2 bottles.
Balvenie Single Barrel '15' - 1 bottle.
Laphroag '10' - 2 bottles.
Laphroag Quarter Cask - 1 bottle.
Glenlivet '15' - 1 bottle.
Tormore '12' - 1 bottle.
Bunnahabhain '12' - 3 bottles.
Bunnahabhain 'Darach-Uer' - 1 bottle.

Not a masssive collection, but all ones I like and all litre sizes - the joys of tax-free NAAFI in Germany...

The second 3 year old should be released out sometime this month ;)

[Guilty secret - I got hold of a bottle of last year's 3 year old Kilchoman and for the first time ever I'm thinking of not opening it but waiting to see how much it's worth in a year or two's time :$]
