Hello, thinking of buying a new motherboard. I currently have Photoshop CS6 (1990-2012) installed. I originally installed this many years ago and it has been updated quite a lot from the original disc version. If I reinstall Photoshop from the original disc on a new PC will it update to the version I have installed now - 13.0.1 (13.0.1.3 20131024.r.34 2013/10/24:21:00:00) x64

I.e. are the update files still on the Adobe web site?

Thanks, Mel

You can still manually download Photoshop CS6 updates for Windows here & Mac here.

I use CC presently so I couldn't tell you if updating directly in-application via Help > Updates still works, but it may well do.

Assuming you are upgrading your machine it may be advisable to deactivate the Photoshop CS6 licence before upgrading components and doing a fresh install.

Thanks. Still need to decide which motherboard. Mel

My Mac version continues to update CS6 automatically, although CC, which I used for a year is looking attractive again given some of their other packages and PS/LR for Photographers. The one I would use in preference otherwise would be Capture One, which I have used for a number of years too.

Affinity Photo is also well thought through, but after so long with Photoshop, relearning where everything is, however intuitive, is quite an inertia to change.
