Hi everyone,

I submitted one of my photos from this thread into a competition in my local park (Stewart Park in Middlesbrough). The photo I submitted was the second in the set and I’m happy to say it got shortlisted and is now on display, framed and mounted (A3 size) in the visitors centre at the park! Unfortunately I didn’t win outright but it feels so good having my work on display, especially somewhere that I visit so regularly. They are also planning on producing a series of postcards using the shortlisted photos, so my photo will be available to buy as a postcard!

Anyway, just thought I’d share and was wondering if any of the other short listed photographers from the competition were lurking around on here?

I was in there looking at it (again!) the other day and another couple were stood next to it. I overheard them saying they liked it the best which was nice as they had no idea the person stood next to them was the photographer.

Its certainly given me more confidence as I'm always very critical of my own work and am far from a professional photographer.
 
Further to this the park have now printed all the short listed entries on 'postcards', although its more like a blank greeting card really, and they are now available to buy in the park gift shop.

I'm not going to make any money out of this as it all goes back into developing the park but I'm cuffed that people can actually buy my work (although only for £1.50!)

I'm not sure which of the shortlisted entries will sell the best but I'd love to know how many people actually buy it.

Congratulations! Despite only living 10 or 15 minutes away, I never seem to have the time to get to Stewart Park for a walk around with my camera. I really should try hard to do something about that!

The park is lovely now and the money they have spent doing it up has really made a difference. Half the problem now is that it's always really busy!

It's only down the road from me but I didn't know there was a competition.

Thanks, this was the first year they have ran it now the work on the park has finished.

Thanks, it felt a bit bizarre at first but it does feel really good.
