Steve Mccurry joins 500px???

Yeah, a few people asked on Twitter and Facebook so I assume that's alerted them to take it down (until at least confirming if they're genuine or not).
 
Call me an even bigger cynic but has any one seen what is right on the home page of the magnum website, an advert for SM's new book :( watch this story go viral as in reality it already has what wonderful marketing for that new book :(
 
If the profile was real who'd care? I mean really, so what? Talk about a non story.
 
I think the owners of 500px would care, a lot. Steve McCurry posting on their website would be a considerable coup.

Call me a cynic also but Steve McCurry isn't some dodgy wedding photographer touting for business, he's one of the world's most respected photographers. Do you really think he'd feel the need to pull a stunt like this just to try flog a few more books? :cuckoo:

You kid only yourself if you believe stuff like that doesn't go on day in day out...you'll be telling me next that they guy that wrote on the bodyform Facebook last year didn't have some connection to there marking department or advertising agency ;)

We're not talking about some random huge company here, we're talking about a specific individual at the very top of his game. Just like the world's most respected musical artists, if you're on top of what you do you don't need to do stuff like this. It's that simple.

I very much doubt it,as those Magnum does have a well run marketing dept :)

Wouldn't know to be honest as never really looked my interest into photography if I'm honest don't really tie in with the works of SM and before recently I'd not heard of magnum outside the ice cream world that is :lol:

Have to admit though, I do like a good Magnum ice cream...

There is me thinking anybody can join in the conversation :shrug: or are you saying that's not the case, I have no interest in what he shoots or at least what I've seen of it...but I do find the incident of this account very interesting ;)

Anyone can join in a conversation but I do find it a little odd when views implying the guy was doing something dodgy start coming out when you know nothing whatsoever about him. I don't know the first thing about football so me commenting on something football-related is a bit silly because I have no knowledge on which to base an opinion, this is the same principle.
