Hey guy, hope everyone is doing well. I'm not professional or anything but I am improving though and I'm wanting to step my game up just a bit camera wise. I was thinking of going to the canon 7d from the 60d. What are some thoughts on that if you guys don't mind?

Absolutely no point what so ever.

I do weddings and motorsport with everything in between using a pair of 60D's and have no problems at all with it so to be frank and potentially a little harsh a 7D will not be a big step forward.

The only major advancement is the focus system which is far superior but the 60D can cope with anything I have thrown at it.

The only upgrade I would consider would be a 5D3 or similar as you won't see any benefits from the 60 - 7D.

HTH :)

Now - it would have been instructive if you'd said WHAT you thought the change would bring you. Or was it just the lure of a bit of retail therapy?

The Canon 70d is getting good reviews at the moment, so may be worth considering.

I swapped my 60D for a 7D for the better focus system and I was disappointed with it o be honest. The 7D was great for birds and wildlife as long as it was below ISO800, between 800 and 1600 was about usable but over that it wasn't worth keeping. The 60D was good up to around 5000 and usable at 6400. I've since part ex'd the 7D for a 70D and that is fantastic. I would easily say the 70D is the best 'crop' body I've ever used.

If you're definitely going to upgrade I'd say go with either the 70D, if you've already got some EF-S lenses to go with it, or if you've got EF lenses and you have the budget go with a 5D3. A new one from Hdew Cameras is under £2000 and can be had for around £1600 second hand and TBH it's worth every penny. I got my 5D3 when they first came out from Hdew and it cost around £2800 then but I still don't regret paying that much, it's just excellent!

thanks to those who responded! i think after a little more research and reviews im just going to stick it out with the 60d! it hasnt done me wrong yet!!
