Anyone bought the Stealth Gear Photography trousers 2? Im looking for a pair of trousers for out in the wilderness and on first looking they seem pretty decent but would like others reviews before i buy or if you have a good pair of trousers suitable then let me know what, where and cost ? Cheers..

I have several outdoors-y type trousers, as thats all I wear.

My favourite are the Fjallraven Forester trouser followed by the Pinewood Wildmark, followed by the 5.11 Tactical taclite pro pant, followed by the Craghopper Kiwi.

The fjallravens are very well built, are waterproof, extremely hard wearing and have loads of pockets, but are quite pricey.
The Pinewoods are almost as well built as the Fjallravens, also waterproof but are quite hard to find in this country and are half the price.
The 5.11 tacticals have a gazillion pockets and are very hard wearing and waterproof.
The craghoppers are good, but more lightweight and softer and dont hve as many pockets.

I get all my stuff from here.

The Fjallravens and pinewoods are pretty quiet, but not silent. I think Fjallraven do a silent pair however.

I have heard of that site but never used it.

I bought a pair of the Stealth Gear trousers, they are very good. The only concern was their sizing, I bought Large as that is what I normally have. I had to return them and get XXL which fitted perfectly. The big advantage of these is they are water proof and you can kneel down without getting wet. I usually use Paramo or Rab for hill walking and they are good for that but not so good for photography. These trousers seem to be just the thing for clambering about in the bogs and mud.

These are not the sort of trouser to wear down town or shopping, out on the hills and in the forests they are as good as it gets.

I also bought the jacket/vest at the same time, same material with loads of useful pockets, I have yet to use it in anger but I think I may be able to leave the bag behind on many occasions as the pockets seem to hold an enormous amount of equipment and they have padding too. It is heavy though, not that I noticed it when wearing it.

I hope this helps,

Paul.

Thanks... Are the trousers silent when walking?

Its not too bad here. a little bit of snow. I have not ventured out to Rannock Moor yet, although I have not heard it is bad and the snow gates are open. I think the A82 after Glasgow was blocked this morning. The snow up here is great for photography, had a ball last Xmas and New year. Frozen Lochen's make a great photo and the dear come lower down from the hills too.

Just noticed you were in N. Lanarkshire , I guess you would know more about the A82 around Glasgow than me up here.
If you are coming up this way and have the time and desire you could pop in and have a look at the Stealth gear kit. I debated for a long time wheather to order it or not as the only supplier I know in Scotland is Scott's in the Borders. A bit far too travel to try on some clothes.

Isn't the Jack Pyke stuff silent, weatherproof and toasty?

As is some of the genuine MOD issue stuff - far cheaper to buy those and throw some £9.99 thermals underneath!

We get issued the 5.11 tactical trousers which are excellent
