Yes
I admit ive done this in the past, usually when someone else has paid from the room. Nothing major just a few towers and soap here and there.

What do people think nowadays? Too dodgy since they have your card details?

We may all have done a little as kids, but stealing is wrong plain and simple, I doubt you'd be happy being robbed and the local thief saying in the pub " nothing major just a few lenses and a flash "

To be clear.

Are you saying that you are a thief; that you have the attitude and mentality of a thief; that only the possibility of suffering consequences is making you consider not being a thief?

I ask only for clarification. Moral/ethical discussions are extra.

Having seen some of the antics I've gotten up to in my time in hotels after too many units of ABV juice, I wouldn't want to go near a hotel towel for fearing that there's always someone worse around than you. :)

ANyone seen that friends episode where ROss and Chandler try to get everything that isn't nailed down, but only the things you are supposed to have/use?

They go along the lines of this:

You can't take the salt cellar, that would be stealing, but we can empy it out and take the salt.

Funniest thing is when they walk out and the suitcase bursts open in reception when they leave.....

And I always clear out the tea bags, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits daily.

yeah take the complimentary toiletries and the teabags etc but do you really want a second hand robe and towels when you can buy perfectly good brand new ones for a decent price from somewhere like Asda

nope, never really been tempted, the stuff isnt that good in the hotels i stay in

I might take things which are 'given' to me: biscuits etc but I wouldn't steal anything, because I'm not a thief!

Couldn't have said it better!!!

I know a bloke who whilst working in Liverpool used to pinch all the complimentary biscuits, tea and coffee to take to work for his tea breaks. Also returning from another work trip abroad. He and a few workmates been upgraded to 1st class on British Airways. It was the blokes birthday and he took a shine to the cup and saucer he'd been drinking from, so slipped it into his bag. The others saw him and tipped off the stewardess. Aparrently his face was a picture when the stewardess asked him if he had anything of theirs as he went to get off the plane. They all had a good laugh at him, but he did get to keep his cup and saucer though.

It is theft no ifs, buts, simply theft and it has to be paid for by the the honest guests at the hotels.
