starving student web designers

Does anyone know (or is) a starving student webdesigner, I want my site rebuilt by someone who knows what they're doing, I have a plan and its dead simple. I don't want to pay the money it ought to cost so I'm looking for someone with a little vision to do what should be a minimal amount of coding.

I know what it ought to cost (which is about 4x what I want to pay), but I also know what rate I ought to work at so I reckon we can work somat.

not toooo cheeky I hope.

I'm getting feedback that what I want involves javascript and php, not the basic html I had planned, will drop you a PM but I have a suspicion I might need a rethink
 
A load more details on what you are after would be good
 
Basicaly my current site is all blog, which doesn't display my best work, I'd like to keep the blog as a page of the site (with sub pages ect) relatively intact and build a rest of site separate from it.

I like the style of websites with scrolly images like this one and this one.

Keeping the blog as is, and carrying the theme through of white bg copperplate gothic light and trim in that blue colour as its on my cards fliers and prints

Not the best explanation but I think it kinda makes sense
 
If you use Wordpress or other CMS for your blog you shouldn't need any php tinkering, just some CSS skillz.

you got it wrong, I want to leave the blog alone and just make it a subsection of a larger site (which I'm 90% I know how to do)

It's building the sideways scrolling image bar that is supposedly hard?
 
Now if this was a thread asking for a photographer to undercut the going rate of a pro it would be full of people saying how wrong it was, intersting how nobody cares when it's someone elses industry!

I think part of the reason is that computer scientists and photographers go hand in hand. At least half the CS faculty at my university are enthusiasts with a few part time processionals too. I'm not saying I condone it, but everyone needs to start out somewhere even if it's Uncle Bob doing a wedding at a price or if it's a CS student building an early website. In either case, everyone needs to build a portfolio somewhere.

Edit: Dave, PM me with details on what you want and I'll give it a look. Can't promise you anything because I've already got one project on the go and exams are coming up so it would probably have to wait around a month before I can put any serious time into it.
 
Also there is a starving student economy, students work cheap and do good work, in my opinion students work cheaper and do better work for other students.
 
basically dead on apart from a wider frame, but I have found someone who is on the right kinda wavelength
 
kk if he's **** I have a fallback...... OR bit of competition - whoever builds me the best one gets it bought?
 
What kind of website do you what, light or dark, black or white, new logo or old logo, simple or complex?

light, white, my logo is text in a certain font and I am actually really happy with my blog for a basic look, I just don't think it displays my work very well

Ill have a go tomorrow, when I get a bit of time.
 
I have a guy who I'm settled on and am paying so really don't worry, its a bit harsh to have people vying for his work


Though I will need another site done at some point :p
