Starter kit

As I'm involved with Lencarta I'm going to keep quiet:)
I just want to tell you though that this kit is normally supplied with the much cheaper 60 x 60cm softboxes, but is currently supplied with the larger 85 x 85cm softboxes as the smaller ones are out of stock.

All being well though, a new delivery of the smaller softboxes will arrive today, the kit contents will then revert back to the smaller softboxes and the price will drop.

So, if you want it with the current softboxes, buy it today. Otherwise, wait until tomorrow:)

Seeing as you are involved....I would rather much like your views, I know from an other thread why you may want to keep quite but this is what I have my eye on so why not hear it from the person who is very much 'in the know'

Please :)

Well, there are plenty of people on this forum who have bought the SmartFlash, hopefully some of them will share their experiences.

The problem I have, as I'm sure you appreciate, is that anything I say will be taken by some as pimping.

I purchased 2 smartflashes a year or so ago, decent flashes for the size and super easy to use. Generally if your starting out its a no brainer and you really wont need anything more powerful. Of course their missing some of the more advanced features found on the more expensive models across any flash range but I doubt you will miss them as someone still learning.

Softboxes/umbrellas are of course the defacto starting modifiers and you cant really go wrong with them plus they can be deconstructed for easy storage.
Make sure you get a bag to store it all in.

I got that exact same kit last week from Lencarta after much research into alternatives.

Absolutely delighted with it.

Quality is great and well priced too.

Make sure you get a wireless trigger too

I already have the Yongnuo-622C triggers, would these be of any use ???

I purchased two Smartflashes, an umbrella and two stands a month or so ago and couldn't be happier. There are other brands out there which I am not best placed to comment on but I can honestly say I don't think you'd be disappointed with that kit. It would be a long time before before you were pushing it to its limits, if at all ever. I personally found the service to be excellent too. Im one of many happy Lencarta customers and I'm sure others will be along.

Gary : As a slight aside can you please tell me in tangible terms what the difference between the Chiaro Octo and Standard Octo is? (other than size of course :-) ). I may be missing something completely but I can't say it's obvious from what I can see?

The Chiaro has a deeply recessed front that can accommodate honeycombs and which can be used to feather the light. It has good quality walls and thick inner and outer diffusers. It can also take interchangeable speedrings. This applies to the Profold range too.

The cheaper non-chiaro octa is old stock and doesn't have these things.

Thanks a lot Gary. Some food for thought there as pay day is approaching. :-)
