When we go out walking as a family and take the camera with us my 7 year old step daughter always likes to have a play and take some shots so I thought I'd encourage it by letting her have a play with my macro lens while we were out this afternoon. This is her setting up! (taken on mobile phone)

And this is the result, she arranged the leaves herself, picked her focus point and took the shot so no involvement from me :)

Hmm be afraid be very afraid, she will be wanting her own gear soon, i forsee some expensive xmas pressies in the near future.

Not only that, but you just proved it's nurture as opposed to nature! Bet you never thought you'd be settling an age old debate in an afternoon! :D

Well, at just over four, my son and photo buddy isn't quite as advanced as Jambo's daughter.

Here he is at London Zoo last October, just before his fourth birthday. I was thinking of getting him a Vtech kids camera for his birthday, but didn't seem much point as he's getting on with the Panasonic quite well.

Look at it in the positive, you could use this as an excuse to upgrade. Give her your Canon stuff and buy a Nikon for yourself :lol:
 
We always encouraged my daughters and bought them cheap film cameras to use from an early age. When they are small (in age and height) they have a completely different viewpoint to an adult.

My eldest is now at Uni studying documentary photography!
