Standalone B&W Conversion Software

Is there a true standalone program for black and white conversion? Have Googled but had no success so far.

Anyway, it looks as though the program isn't standalone. These are some of the requirements according to the website:

System Requirements

Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7
AMD or Intel processor
2 GB RAM (4 GB or more Recommended)
Adobe Photoshop® CS3 through CS6
Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 through 10
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom® 2.6 through 4
32-bit and 64-bit compatible

I'm looking for something I can use without a 'host' program.

actually have to make a correction, it seems silver efex pro is a plugin in, designed to work with Lightroom, photoshop or aperture...

So I guess you still need a solution unless you have any of the above.

Topaz Labs B&W effects is normally a plug-in, but can be almost be used standalone if used with their photoFXlab, but you then need to buy two programs and makes it a bit expensive.

Oh yes and I also use Gimp, but I'm looking for a 'specialised' black and white program.

Have you tried any of the Gimp scripts ? I don't really understand why you need a specialised programme to do what you can do with one you already have ? Other than it might not have so many shortcuts ?

DxO Film Pack. There must be at least 25 mono film types, with or without grain, and they're all very tweakable.
