Got a gravy or food stain on a new shirt. Only small but annoying. Its been washed a few times, no joy. Tried stain devils food/grease, didnt touch it.

Anyone any ideas on how to get rid?

Thanks

Colour of shirt?

Pale blue with faint white stripe. Its a "matt" finish shirt as opposed to "shiny" office style shirt. i.e. a bit like linen but is actually cotton. Ta.

If Monica lewinsky could work it out I'm sure you can

I've had some success rubbing in bio washing liquid and leaving for 15 min then washing.
Vanish powder mixed to a paste and applied to stain can be good too.

If you have any Nikwax tech wash, rub a bit in the stain before washing. Always worked for me.

I've got a spray called 1001 stain remover.
It's pretty good stuff.

You could try a biological washing powder on the stain - mix a teaspoonful of the powder to a paste with a little water then apply directly to the stain. Leave for a while then rinse and wash as normal. Personally, when a shirt gets stained it gets relegated to winter use (under a jumper) or holiday/beach use. Shirts are relatively cheap from Primark so I buy several at a time and replace them when they're beyond laundry! If I need an ironed shirt, I get a new one out of the packet!!!

This one was fairly cheap, £12 ish, but even so only worn it once or twice, so reluctant to throw. I'll buy some vanish or summat

Steep the shirt in bisto.
I'm in no way a laundry expert so other advice should be considered :D

I always thought rubbing Ketchup into it would work. No expert either but the results should be amusing

try lemon on it but i feel as its been washed its now set

This!

If you spill something, deal with it BEFORE washing and you stand a chance of getting it out. Once it has been washed it is unlikely to beremoveable. :)

Could have been worse. The gravy could have dropped on the meat and two veg

I had to read that again.
My first thought was, "Why would poor Keith want to do his laundry in a bistro?"

The thing is I thought washing it would remove the mark. You don't know it's a stain until you've washed it and its still there.

That'll teach you to dribble.

£12 for a shirt? Bin it. :)

Exactly what my wife does when I miss my mouth :) and failing that, drying it outside in sunshine works wonders as well. I couldn't belief it at first.

Although this time a year in the uk it will be cheaper to buy another shirt vs travelling to the sun shine and washing your shirt again.
