i know it goes on and i know alot of it goes un reported.
I was shocked today to find out a kid at my daughters school was stabbed today. He is ok well as well as he could be.. no major problems the bummer is iknow the family and the lad and he is not a bad lad.

maybe we have lived a sheltered life i just don't know:shrug:

as you say,, you know it goes on... you just had one a little close to home thats all... not a nice thing is it :(

That's terrible. I'm glad I home-educate my kid!

This has been going on for many many years.I remember at high school in 1982 when a kid got his face slashed 8 or 9 times in front of me during a fight which included the use of an art scalpel. The offender was eventually allowed back to our school after courts were involved---he died of a drugs overdose about 10 years ago--good ridance to him i say.

How do you and your kids find home education? I was home educated, as are my 4 younger siblings. I don't agree with it though, my kids definitely won't be.

Is home educating really the best solution? How your kids will adapt to a this "bad" world when grown up?

He knows very well what's going on in the big bad world. He's not wrapped in a cocoon. He's got a brown belt in Karate, so he knows how to defend himself! As far as his education goes, he's about one year ahead of his school educated peers.

There is nothing new going on, same old crimes. Just when we were younger we didnt notice them. :)

He can have even black belt with yellow dots on it, its not much of a help when facing youth gangs with knives.

Yes I do believe he is. But what about social interaction skills. Iam just curious :) Peace.

Well to up date the lad that got stabbed is ok.. back at school and so it the lad that stabbed him. well he has a 5 day exclusion but then allowed back to school..

the dad of the stabbed lad isn't happy at all but as he says not allot he can do about it.

Don't think so! A few years ago if anything like this had happened it would have made front page news. Now we're all used to it. :-(

I sure hope he doesn't meet up with a gang with knives. But having a good grounding in Karate gives one a lot of self confidence, and that's important. He did once get accosted by two very strange guys, and was able to scare them off. I think they thought he was another Bruce Lee!

Why do you think he would be lacking in social skills? He's not a recluse!

Sorry my last message seems to have got a bit mixed up with the quotes!

its why kids are so fat nowadays, they fatten up to use it as natural padding from knife wounds

This is a typical example of no punishment for a crime committed (5 days away from school watching TV).
No doubt there will be a line of social workers suggesting the offender need a trip abroad.
Our country will soon be run by thugs!

Wow, this is a coincidense. It was my nephew that got stabbed and I can confirm he is fine.

The lad was arrested and in custody for the best party of the evening. He stabbed my nephew between the shoulders with a pair of wire cutter type pliers. I have seen a picture of the wound and it was quite "gaping".

A 5 day exclusion is not even close to punishment for me, lets face it if an adult had done the same it could have been viewed as attempted manslaughter. My son attends the same school and is in the same year.

Terri, do you work at Neville Parade?

I'm glad your nephew is going to be OK. As for the little thug who stabbed him...you're quite right, exclusion is not punishment enough. It's disgusting that he should get off so lightly!

Sorry to get pedantic and legal, but you cannot attempt manslaughter - it would either be a s18 GBH (which from what you have said, I would suggest is the appropriate charge) or attempted murder. Either way, the maximum penalty is life imprisonment, and still a very serious charge.

Hope your nephew is recovering. It's a horrendous thing to have happen to you.
