Yes
I installed a Crucial M4 256GB SSD into an Asus laptop. It is seen in the BIOS.

When I went to install Widows7 Home Premium from the DVD but it doesn't see the new disk. I then tried a Linux distro (Mint 14) and it installed easily.

There is a message suggesting that a driver is missing but I don't know what that might be.

Any idea what's going on?

Probably need a motherboard driver to let windows see the interface with the hard disk.

Thanks Neil.

As its a laptop, what drivers should I be looking for from Asus? I tried the Sata drive but its not that one.

Sadly none of the drivers available on Asus site do the job :(

Any idea if a slipstream install of Windows7 HP with SP1 might load?

Just don't want to waste the time creating it if it's not likely to work ;)

I know so many are waiting impatiently to know what the solution was so here goes:

I simply plugged the DVD drive into a USB 2 rather than USB 3 port and it went smoothly as it should have.

I found the suggestion after reading hundreds of threads online where the same problem was described.
