SR44s

Anyone reccomend a cheap source? LR44s a plenty but no one seems to have the real deal at anything other than eyewatering prices. Batteris in OM2SP and OM4Ti both decided to die during the same trip today! That's 5 months in the 4 and 3 in the 2! (on LR44s)

Thought the LR44s could always be used instead? My old nintendo thingies list SR44s and LR44s.

LR44s aren't always a replacement weirdly, certain cameras (notably the Olympus XA series) were famously fussy about needing SR44s. That said I gave up trying to find a decent SR44 source - the only place was 7dayshop but they have been on order for 2 months now with no firm back in stock date, so I bought a blister pack of LR44s off Amazon instead.

You could try "Small Battery Company" i've used them for all of my cameras, watches, remotes etc. If they dont have what you are after they can sort you out with adaptors and alternate batteries

Really? What's the issue? I've had the same LR44s in my XA2 for over a year (in fact they were in it when I got it) and it shoots (mostly slide) fine.

The needle in the viewfinder of the XA, showing shutter speed, would often read completely wrong without SR44s present. The internal metering would be fine, but the read-out can be very useful in some situations. With the XA2 being programmed exposure it might only be a problem with the XA... :shrug: but I'm pretty sure they aren't the only cameras, there were others that insisted on SR's for certain reasons.

The silver oxide chemistry (of the SR) has a totally different discharge characteristic to the alkaline chemistry (of the LR) - they also last about twice as long in low current applications...
