What the hell in for a penny in for a pound

First year be gentle with me and brand new to DSLR photography so hopefully this project will see a small improvement in my ability throughout the year.
So here goes.

Week 00

I like it. The depth of field is good, the colours work and there is a nice texture to the image. As things to improve on, I'd consider straitening the image, I'd like that centre creese to be vertical (I a bit OCD but it does improve images in my experience) and also cleaning up the black dot on the 1p coin. Its drawing my attention a little. Other than that, this is a good minimalist shot (I like minimalism) and quite creative angle and depth of field. Defiantly a good shot, especially for someone new.

Many thanks all for your kind comments and advice so far.

Am I mad? I think I'm actually looking forward to this.

Hi Simon & welcome

cracking start to your challenge...good use of DOF , nice low POV (y)

Little niggle is the pound coin not being perfectly in line on the vertical ( make sense ?)....my OCD I'm afraid

Look forward to seeing more from you

It's amazing how many different interpretations there are, agree with dark knight about the ring

Nice idea, I have to agree that the ring is slightly distracting. Good start :-)

Great clarity and sharpness to both shots, brings out the detail I wouldn't usually pay attention to!

Hi
Can't add anything else to whats been said look forward to seeing more over the next year

Odd - I like the idea with the Dof seems about right to me
Linear/Line - The distraction of the ring has been mentioned but the lighting and sharpness seem good to me

Unusual take on the theme. Just wonder whether a tighter crop would work a tad better?

Great clarity and sharp image. I feel like I want to see more of the hand that the lines belong to though....but then again I see others have said the opposite. So feel free to ignore me! Lol!

Hi Simon :)

Some great detail there, your ring distracts slightly, but a very well lit palm with lines in abundance, nice one (y)

:plus1:

And I can see that you are going to have a long life and meet a tall dark stranger :naughty:

Odd - Nice take on theme Like the contrast between squares on BG and round coins. The £1 looks to me like it needs a slight turn anti clock and the mark on the penny removed otherwise all good.(y)
Line - Different take on theme well done for that and well light. With the others on the ring though.

Me too, great image Simon, I like it (y) I hadn't realised doing the TP52 was going to be so nostalgic :)

Cool idea and great compsition - that's something I've not seen in years - do they still make it?
