Hi all,

I've just found this link of a supplier that I've used before and thought I'd post it.

I use of these, and highly recommend them - they're tough, durable, the cover keeps the cloth clean. :)

I'm going to be ordering one of the 18% grey ones - look like it may be a interesting experiment for changing your White Balance :)

Anyway, thought some of you might be interested :)

I looked everywhere for something like this a few days ago, after seeing a photo of a sigma one. Gave up searching and bought one of the jessops loose one. :(

A little tip...The inside of Lowepro bags is also 18% grey ;)

Well you learn something new everyday! :D

So the lens cloth that's attached to my slingshot is 18% grey - that is actually really worth knowing as I might feel brave enough to try and do some manual WB stuff at some point!

If you shoot in RAW, then it doesnt hurt to take a shot of it anyway as a reference...you dont *have* to use it later on, but it will always give you that fallback of a neutral grey to reference later on, especially if you think the AWB hasn't got it right.

I only learnt about the Lowepro thing last year too....Most people don't know about it.....

Sorry to resurect an old thread, but i am a rare breed and use the search function.

Anyhoo, the link at the top is cheap. I looked on warehouseexpress.com and they are £7.50 deliverd .... .about £3 more !!!!

I really need a lens cloth, anyone else got experiences, or shall i go for a natrual deicated lens cleaning cloth ??

I would yes.........I use the bottom bit of my tshirt!! :lol:

I've got one of those 'spudz' kinchy and can recommend it - have had it a couple of years now and it's been washed a couple of times with no problems.

Of course I think these microfibre tees Janice is on about sound interesting!! :D

Seems like a great idea that cloth does, I'm always having to take mine out of a stupid & fiddly plastic cover every time I need to use it - will have to invest in one of these methinks - cheers for the link :thumbs:

Your lens is going to look as bad as the sensor on your 30D used to look Janice!!:gag: :eek: :D
 
I am afraid I confess to cleaning my camara the same way as Janice, the lens that is NOT the sensor, that I sent away to canon!! :suspect:
 
i got one of the Spudz free with Am Photo mag a while back.
But for the ultimate in lens cloths, try Calotherm microfibre cloths.

these look interesting! fiddling around with a small plastic thing to put your cloth back in is very annoying

Hope Janice doesn't put her T Shirt in a plastic bag after she's finished cleaning her camera, otherwise she may find her self taking photos inside a police cell!!

Scratch that - have found the answer via Google regarding pads and fluid.

Oops, didn't see that this morning.

Definitely not suitable for cleaning sensors :)
 
I think a nice handful or diamond dust wrapped in a clean cloth to be most helpful in the cleaning of lenses and all forms of glass, if used more vigorously round the edges it also gives you a splendid homemade misty edge filter :p
 
I've just ordered two myself. A small one for the bag, and a biggie 18% grey to leave at home for the full clean. :thumbs:
