Anyone else spot this field camera on the gymnastics coverage?

Something a bit different from the Canons, Nikons and Sonys I've been spotting.

I noticed it as well but dismissed it as being my eyes playing tricks on me...

Apparently it's David Burnett with his Speed Graphic. It will be interesting to see what he produces, he's done some excellent sports as art photography.

Interesting! Looking at his galleries he is a pretty darn good photographer to boot. Mind you I know nowt much about famous or well known photographers really!

Got as far as the slideshow on his homepage.

Miniturisation effect, HDR with horrendous haloing.

No thanks.

I have to agree with you there, not the best intro to a professional photographers website i've ever seen

Was going to say that looks like David Burnett. He's always shooting with 'unusual' cameras. Takes a tilt shift lens everywhere, takes a Holga to almost every assignment.

I have a friend who has travelled around a fair bit shooting with him, he said you get the impression he's just out to have fun with his photography now. I guess if you have a career like David Burnett's behind you, you can pretty much do what you like and nobody's going to complain. Good job there are still people doing things their own way too.

Is the Tilt shift, not just one of the great things about using LF? Being able to shift your focus and such..

Stop it NOW....i can't afford LF:nono:

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure he shoots digi tilt shift as well, and some of his LF gear, like those big old press cameras won't have very many movements I don't think.

Nothing like a monorail but the graphic has about 10-15deg tilt, swing and a fair bit of rise. The aero ektar lens being 175mm f2.5 makes miniaturisation pretty easy with even a little tilt.

Yeah was just looking into that. Seems he may use it more than I realised. Anyway, been coming up with some good shots for the last 30 years, whatever kit he's using. ;)

Anyone spotted him at any of the other events?

I'd like to see what he could produce with the Speed Graphic from the equestrian and athletic events, and some of the less obvious events for this style of camera, perhaps the track cycling or BMX.

Was this the guy doing this tilt/shift stuff? http://wwwSPAMfeed.com/jpmoore/13-stunning-examples-of-tilt-shift-photography-at
