Hi there, I posted a thread quite a few months back about where to shoot near Plymouth without the use of a car, however I now have a car down with me!!! :D So i can travel, but being a student I don't have tons of money for petrol so ideally places within 30mins drive are places that would be great for me to do some land/seascape photography.

So far i plan to go to Wembury, Bovisand obv chunks of Dartmoor and Burrator reservoir. I know there is one big beach near plymouth that you can get to by crossing the tamar bridge or ferry, but i would prefer to avoid tolls (although i will do it if there is somewhere awesome, probs do it once anyway somewhen lol). So any beaches for sunsets/sunrises orrrrr any good places for long exposure black and white stuff.

Cheers for any help :)

If you don't already have it, download The Photographers Ephemeris (link).

This lets you see where and when sun / moon rise / set will be at any given location and date.

You will also want to check what the tides are doing at the beach you are looking at (google for tide times) as there's no point planning a trip only to find it's high tide and you can't get on the beach, etc.

If you have not already done so try the Hoe, Barbican and Devils Point (end of Durnford Street)

Is there a way of getting below the Tamar bridge so you could shhot that at dusk? Look awesome with the sunset, fading skylight & the bridge illuminated by the car lights etc! Been a while since I was down that way so cant remember if its possible or not:shrug: deffo worth a go if it is though!

EDIT I dont mean directly below, just a lower viewpoint of the whole structure.

Thanks a lot for the ideas guys :)
I have shot all of Plymouth to death when i didnt have my car so Im trying to find places out of town. I went to Bovisand beach yesterday, nice location but was a rubbish sunset so will def return there as it was only 15mins drive. The Tamar bridge I should attempt again because the first time i did it I did it rubbish :(
