Something that was puzzling me a while ago and I forgot to post.

Nowadays a spot the ball competition is easy, bit of clone tool and hey presto.

How the heck did they do it 15-20 years ago?

Same with the spot the difference competitions? How did they get so many small edits in? OK some of them were rudimentary edits, like bangles drawn on, but some of them were quite clever edits.

So...how?

Enlighten a digital-only person :D

My uncle use to work for kodak (I think) some years ago, he use to have a very big desk and lots of paints. From what I remember he use to touch up a lot of the really big poster prints you had hanging up in the likes of M&S etc.

Bleaching out part of the original print and then painting back what you want.

I've removed the odd plane and other small blots from prints before but never a ball though. The amount you can get away with depends on your talent for painting the scene back in again. As I said, I've only ever done very small edits. :)

Paintbrushes and paint?

I remember having prints done somewhere quite flashy (ie: not sent off in the post) and there was a woman sat there touching em up afterwards.
