Sports illustrated lay off Togs

SI have been accepting submissions from independents for a long time who can feed photos in just about as fast as their main togs could.

A sports photographer told me that in the UK a photo making the front page of the sports special, for example, will make a whopping £250 or thereabouts.

Is that sarcasm? If I where to use the term "whopping" it would be sarcasm. however different parts of country use words differently so it's hard to tell... It's a serious question BTW :)
