weekly Spooky's 52: Miniature

Heloo Simon, really cool image, liking the box man, nice and sharp. Good luck completing your 52

Love it, clever and charming.

I really like this, it has some nice creative elements which lead to a really cool overall effect :)

Hi Simon. Wonderful image and nicely composed. Great little pieces. POTY Winner eh! - we'll have to keep our eyes on you. Good luck with TP52.

Excellent effort. I'd love to give constructive feedback, but I just love it. Well done :)

His tripods too tall, can't he stand on a box? ;)... :D

Nice one Simon.

Great start to your 52. Very nice use of DOF, the camera is in perfect focus yet you have got the tripod legs OOF, but with still enough detail in the character behind. Like the processing as well.

Metal.....Funny, and on theme.
Not a fan of the polaroid border, but that's a taste thing :D

Nice picture love the Polaroid look well thought of.

Well, here is my submission for week 2 - Captive. You can probably identify a trend starting, even now. Hope I will be able to keep these going for another 50 weeks; I am enjoying working with Danbo, and the intrigue setting up these pics gets from my children.

Many thanks to everyone who commented on my fist pic; it is much appreciated.

All the best

Hi, two really nice shots, love the DoF in the first one and the shadows on the second one, I take it he is making an appearance in every pic

I like the picture, the shadow of the bars is a nice change from seeing bars in everyone's pics :)

Nicely taken spooks, right down to the bars shadow across his face

Another amazing picture. I agree with Susie, it's amazing how expressive this is for a carboard figure. Love the shadows of the bars, especially across the face and the details of the marks in the background.

That is very impressive - the lighting you have, the staging of the figure and notches on the wall to count the days, great attention to detail

Thanks for the feedback and thoughts on my captive pic.

Yes, that is the intention. Unless we fall out, or his agent starts demanding a fee.

Great lighting, and he looks so sad.

How does a cardboard figure manage to be so expressive :) another super shot ....looking forward to seeing how you interpret the weeks ahead Simon.

Danbo went to the Kuleshov school of acting; only he excelled to the extent that he does not need two frames in order to convey his emotion - he can use the mise en scene he is provided with and still be effective!

Yep - I had a bit of fun dressing the cardboard box I stuck him in - a bit of torn cardboard and 52 marks on the wall to signify how long he will have to endure working with me.

Hello Simon, I really like this image for captive, great focus and DOF, i feel that Danbo is on the edge of a cliff, pushing itself against the wall whilst peeping over the edge looking down into the abyss. Quality

Both shots look good to me! Are you planning on using Danbo for every shot? Would be a cool idea and would help (maybe?!) with the trickier themes!

Great capture. I agree the shadow of the bars really works here. And it's true what they say - always get the eyes in focus! You've done exactly that :)

Liking the bulding theme in your shot. If @Cobra can get a gob shot into each theme, please make sure you keep the cardboard chap :)
Nice shot with the shadows giving the impresion of bars without them having to be in the shot. Nice one.

Probably banged up for tax evasion - that's my guess for someone with that branding. Nice image again - like the suggestion of bars with those shadows across the figure.

The bar shadows and the facial expression says it all great shot.

I love the fact that you have shown the shadows of the bars rather then the bars themselves, poor thing looks so sad :( so it works really well

Metal: great quirky image. Love the camera.
Captive: have to agree with others he seems to adapt to the picture well. Look forward to seeing more of Danbo. Get the feeling he could be a regular.

Hi Simon

Well this is interesting: boxmen on polaroid with the name of the theme included, you're going to end up with a neat collection. I like them very much. (y)
