I was wondering does anybody on have a sponsorship for their camera gear as I could do with some sponsorship here to improve my equipment.

Who would sponsor you and why? What's in it for them? How would they get a return on their investment? How long would it take? How would you measure the success of the sponsorship?

If you can figure the answers out to those qquesitons and construct a resonable argument in their favour then go out and sell yourself, but I would hold out too much hope.

If I could figure out the answers I would charge to tell you ;)

I already know the answers.

I don't but I was curious if anybody on here had such an agreement and if such a thing existed. My guess was it doesn't and companies spend a fortune on stock photographs.

I was speaking to one of the main UK snowboard scene photogs last year and he was saying about some of the top sports photogs getting flowed gear from Canon, so it must happen...

I think usually it works the other way round, i.e. you get into a certain discipline or type of work (for example snowboarding photography as mentioned, or like that girl who got good at surf stuff), and then sponsorship/goodies follow.

You can hardly just say, what do I need to do to get sponsored? To me that's like that fame academy TV program... kind of getting things the wrong way round.

I think with photography, like so many other things, you have to immerse yourself in it, live it, breath it, work it, and then opportunities and good things come your way.

I get millions of picture views per year. I really do mean millions..Not visitors or page hits but actual picture views.. Also my pics end up on facebook and sites like that .

I thought to get a sponsor and have there name stamped on every picture.. But never got furthur than the thinking process.. still think it might work though :)

I have a contract for surf shots at certain events and they supply me with equipment for that, not really sponsorship, but saves me using my gear.

That's the kind of thing I'm talking about, or travelling expenses help, etc.

Personally I'd like to be sponsored by Relentless, but only for mentioning their product in words, not pictures!!

I know a guy who shot for Relentless last year, I think it was Relentless, BSB team ? Not sure what his deal was though ?

Doh! I completely miss understood this, I though it was sponsorship by Canon/Nikon to be seen using their kit, I'm sure there are lots of situations where people are paid a fixed amount for a company to have first refusal on images...

Maybe the OP did mean that. Not going to happen though, I don't think!

Get job. Buy kit. Look after kit. Works for me!
