I am doing a portrait lighting studio day on Wednesday.
I am planning on taking both my 5D classic and 1D mk3.

A choice which I feel very fortunate I have to make, I had bought the 5D for portraits and lanscapes and the 1D for sports and wildlife but I wonder which I should use?

My quandry is which one should I consider being my first choice and which should I consider being my back up?
Any thoughts would be welcome

Al, I'd say if you bought the 5D for portraits then that's the one to use; I'm guessing much research went in to the choice in the first place, so maybe that could help you decide now?

Out of interest, are you hiring studio space? And if so, where? I've always driven to Bridport for a studio, so a decent one closer to me (Wareham) would be really useful

Cheers guys. confirming my thoughts. yes alot of time reading went into the 5D purchase same as all my kit, but just wondered given the fact the 1D is a pro body and several years newer if there might be benifits using it which im not considering/aware of.

Chris its actually a training day at Robert White's Studio http://www.robertwhite.co.uk/tuition.asp
The trainer is Wayne Lawes http://www.waynelawes.co.uk/
Couple of local studios, not used them but there closer than Bridport

In the studio all of the benefits of the 1 series will be mute. At low ISO the 5d will be lovely.

Cheers Al, I never knew Robert White's even had a studio! I actually emailed them hoping they had a showroom I could have a mooch round, but they don't  I'll have to settle for Jessops in the Dolphin centre :D

Cheers guys, who would have thought I would start a thread about my arsenal of Canons and all the responses would come from Nikon owners lol
While they dont have a showroom they have a lobby consisting of a photographers porn ;-) take a list down of stuff you want to mooch at and they do oblige quite happily!

I emailed them and they invited me down, they just said call in advance to make sure they had someone free to show me round. Still haven't got round to dropping in, but they seem like a lovely friendly bunch of people!
