Spinning... I did this last night for the first time in my whole fitness thing, seriously... WHAT THE F%&K.................. I done 45 minutes, of which I spent 30 of those begging the thing to end.. when it finally did, I couldnt walk, today, I ache all over, my arse hurts like hell andI still am unable to walk properly... saying that....................

I dont half feel like I had a good workout!

You could of got the same affect after a bottle of scotch and you wudnt have had to endure the arse ache

I got ya beat.

Unable to sleep I went for a nice bicycle ride at 4.45 this morning......At 5am I'm picking my head up off the damn curb. The bike stopped. I did not. Result? = Flying lesson. Ouch.

*Takes a bow*

Did you have the resistance set too high? For all those aches and pains you must have really been pushing a lot of resistance. It's a cardio-vascular activity, that shouldn't have that kind of effect.

You poor thing. I just got back home after going for a ride at 7:30 this morning. I hope you're not too hurt.

Thanks....I suspect I feel far more sore this evening than I do now.

No, I dont think I did, I think I am just seriously unfit lol

I used to do spinning 3 times a week about 10 years ago, back in the days when I was actually fit lol :|

I remember the first few times I did it, I thought I was going to die! However, after a few sessions you soon built up good CV resistance and are able to start to really enjoy it :) I remember that the quality of the spin instructor can make a real difference ;)

never understood how spinning works i mean as a way to get fit. Does it use all muscle groups?

It's all about cardio vascular fitness :)

oh i see. I will have to read up on it i think maybe try a class

You make the class as easy or as hard as you want. Anyone can spin for an hour if you're not pushing anything. What works your heart and lungs is when you increase the resistance. If you cycle anyway it will probably seem quite easy as you've already developed the muscles in the legs, and have a level of cv fitness, and you don't have to contend with wind-resistance.

I havent cycled in about 10 years, the instructor was good, kept everyone motivated, lots of ups variation, up, down, fast, slow, etc, the big insentive is feeling totally spent, the instructor saying get up and you think 'f*&k that, look across and everyone else is up and you think 'i arnt being the only one not doing it' so you get up and keep on pushing... I HATED it while I was doing it, but after I felt fab. Today I KNOW I will be going again.

If the bottle of Scotch was washing down a Vindaloo you probably wouldn't have been far off, except maybe sweated and grimaced a bit more

I run once a day every day and cycle twice a week about 6 mile round trip but i would like to see how i could improve my overal fitness with spin. Will defo have to book up i think

I always thought those classes are for kids... where they go in and kept spinning till they fall flat on the floor in euphoria as the earth around them moves....

You can get a similar effect by repeatedly banging your head on a brick wall. It feels great when it stops. The bonus is that the only thing that hurts afterwards is your head! :bonk:;)

:bang: oh yeah:bang: oh yeah :bang: oh no:puke:

I'm dieting to lose weight as just diagnosed as diabetic. Lost 14 pounds in the first month, but restricted to walking the dogs only (no cycling) as waiting for the results of a MRI to knee and probable surgery.

Some days walking the dogs is excruciating but they have to go so I know pedalling is out of the question.

I do two classes a week - there are different levels of instructor BUT its important in your first class you dont go at it hell for leather as after 15 minutes if you do you will want to die!Ive seen lots of newbies try it only to never appear in the class again. Its pure Cv and you will notice a gradual improvement
Ease into it ,its a 45 minute class not a sprint.
