Well I think it's a great little gun, provided you don't want to do anything with it but pretty basic on-camera auto flash, with a bit of bounce. I can well imagine that will satisfy a heck of a lot of people
It's small, light, cheap, fully auto E-TTL and has enough power for most things, provided you don't want to bounce it off the clouds.
Compared to the on-board flash, it is two stops more powerful (which is a lot), sits higher for better lighting, and of course you can bounce it. Stick something like this Jessops diffuser on it for a fiver and you've got the StoFen look verging on Fongism, or try a DIY bounce card. This glorified handkerchief from Jessops gives great light:

If you try bounce flash in big rooms, you will either run out of power or be forced to push the ISO higher than you'd like; if you try to shoot hundreds of pictures at a time, you will run out of batteries; and if you have strobist multi-flash ambitions, you will be disappointed. Look at the 430EX/II (£70 more).
But for most normal stuff, go for it
