Hi ... im currently moving from a fixed studio environment to a more portable setup using Nikon speedlights. What i want to know is has anyone here successfully used Bowens fit strip softboxes with speedlights. Because the light from a speedlight emits forward does this cause dark spots in the softboxes at the outer edges ?

anyone here tried this ?

thanks :)

it does cause uneven illumination in the strip box. You'll also struggle to find an s fit adapter thats not very heath robinson and doest struggle withe heavy modifiers

To get even illumination in a strip box from a speedlight type unit, you'd need to buy a Lencarta Atom or similar which are bare bulb units.

Hi, Calumet make a very robust adaptor. I've got one here and its made from metal. Speedlights and strip boxes don't work very well together as there is at lot of light fall-off. The longer the strip light the more the fall-off at the edges. You can also buy lastolite hotrod strip boxes if you don't already have the boxes themselves.

I have one of those. It's not good with heavier modifiers
