Does anyone know what speedlight I should be looking for, for a Nikon D2X, I vaguely remember having an SB80DX a few years ago and also an SB600 but don't know which suited the D2X better, or would I be better buying one of the many aftermarket units like Yongnuo

Anything that says "nikon TTL" compatible...
Personally, I think a used Nikon SB800 is one of the best options available. Some of the aftermarket models may offer similar capabilities/performance for less, but I don't know which.

Cheers Steven, I didn't think the 800 was compatible...............another one to consider

Any reason why they wouldn't be compatible? I would have thought sb800 as they are approximately the same era as the D2X. Great workhorse flash, I still have 2. I would expect all flashes will work tbh just that some of the newer flashes might have features that your D2X might not take advantage of. My Sb700 for example still works perfectly with my older d300.

Pretty much... i.e. an older camera may not have CLS/commander capabilities where the speedlight supports it.

I really thought the SB600 was the era of the D2X, shows how much I know...............or obviously don't haha

So its looking like the SB600 or SB800 then, cheers Steven, much appreciated
