but was wondering if anyone on the forum knows of a cheaper and just as effective alternative.

If you know of any brands that make quaility brackets that you can recommend i'd love to know about them!

Thanks in advance!
Daniel

You can buy all the bits individually, I used a small Manfrotto head for mine, the whole lot didn't cost anything like £55.....

thanks for the advice guys!
found one on amazon for £10.99!
:)

Why the hell would anyone want a flash bracket like that?

Where's the umbrella hole for starters?

All you can do with that is stick it on top of light stand and swivel the flash any which way. Pointless. You could buy five decent brackets for the price of that.

I have at least a dozen different types of brackets.

My favourite, very small and light takes an 602 well. 602 receivers and these brackets are so cheap I never take them off my nano stands, so am always ready for action!

Manfrotto copy and cheap, but very heavy (weight as well as duty):

Photofelx copy, which is very popular in the states:

for some reason, lovegrove seems capable of selling overpriced ice to eskimos...

Exactly what I've been searching for.

Do you know how the Manfrotto copy compares to the real deal?

AFAIK these are the same ones that Calumet sell as their own brand. I have a couple (plus a couple of the Manfrottos) and there's nothing in it quality-wise and with the copies you get a spigot for which Manfrotto will relieve you of another £8 or something daft....

Thanks Graham! I might just order one before the Christmas holidays and hopefully a parcel will be waiting for me on return.

Whilst we are at knock-offs. Anyone found 28" Apollo copies?

:Raises hand:

I have the ishoot octabox copies of the apollo octa. Needs two guns in it to even it out.

Square box apollos I have used before, but never really like them. Ishoot also make square apollo copies, link below

Ask for them to separate the box from the stand and they will.

Some opinions here, by a chap called 'kris this is' et al

Don't have a manfrotto copy, but do have three manfrotto originals.

They are excellent, but very heavy. If you dont mind the weight, they are probably the best and sturdiest brackets you can buy. But, three of these on your stands and on your back and you will feel the weight. I think the first link in my post is about one third the weight of my manfrottos.

Btw, my manfrotto came with brass spigots top and bottom when I bought mine, but that was some time ago.

Thank you! A shame they don't build a similar sized recess for feathering onto the softbox.
