In the market for a new editing machine.

What spec for the price?
 
Do you need a monitor?

i5-3xxx, 8G+ memory, 120+G SSD. Graphics card is immaterial (onboard is fine) is where the smart money is at the moment/
 
I might ask the mods if we can have a "spec me" sticky. It would need rules though like a defined list of requirements (usage, budget, peripherals, os required etc)

But otherwise what andy said.
 
I'm looking for a laptop just for my pictures & editing movie just don't know where to start...
 
I dont need a monitor, i have a dell 24in ultra sharp i use connected to my laptop at the minute.

A sticky would be handy, with a number of budgets.
 
Only problem I see with a sticky is that the suggestions would get old fairly quick as new options come out - so would it be worth having?

Oh and of course that no one ever reads sticky threads :)
 
but we get new requests fairly often so would it just keep rolling with new info?

just a thought to keep all info together as (no offense OP) there have been several around this price point recently. no biggy if a bad idea :D
